I’m going to geek out a little bit here. If you’re not interested, I suggest you walk away now. Turn off your computer. Go outside. Read a book.
Go on. I’ll still be here when you get back.

Baby!
I’ve been delinquent the past few days in terms of my posting.
And I’m going to continue to be delinquent. You’ll get over it.
Still, I thought it’d be appropriate to share one of the images from yesterday’s ultrasound appointment…
…and to share the fact that we found out what the gender is going to be.
…and decided to share that fact with you, dear reader.
It’s going to be a little girl!
We asked our (first) daughter if she’d like a little sister.
She thought about it for a while, and then responded: ”No thanks.”
Polite, my child is. Polite and wise beyond her years.
New Pictures from the July 4th weekend.
Normally I only tell stories that I myself experience on this site. A recent episode experienced by my mother-in-law, however, contains a valuable lesson for new parents and grandparents. Especially those that have daughters in diapers.
Indoor playplaces are a wonderful way to take the edge off an enthusiastic and energetic young child. For the most part they’re full of large, rubberized structures that a small child can run around and climb on and slide down on. Normally on days when Nanna has our daughter up in Madison for the day, a good few hours are spent with Micah running around the local mall’s play area.
Up until now, it’s been fairly benign and uneventful. Nanna and Micah go to the mall. Nanna buys Micah some sort of knick-knack. Nanna takes Micah to play area. Micah explores and runs and jumps (usually by throwing her arms up into the air and saying jump. Not by actually jumping) around.
Yesterday was a little different. For the first time this season, Nanna and Micah visited the play area while Micah was wearing a dress.
I’m not really sure if it’s the lack of sleep, the enforcement of a routine, or possibly the allergy medicine our doctor gave us, but our daughter is asleep.
Granted, she’s still not actually in her bed. Once more she’s kind of camped out in front of the gate in her doorway. But still, it was only thirty minutes of fussing and crying.
When I started this blog back up after my break, its purpose was to give me a reason to take pictures with my new camera, and in turn have those pictures be a reason to create posts. Circle of Life, etc, etc.
And for the first few months, things went pretty well. Almost every day a picture was taken and a post appeared.
You may have noticed the paced slackened a bit in the past few weeks. The reason is I ran into a bit of a snag.
Namely, we moved my daughter out of her crib and into a Big Girl bed.
It hasn’t gone well.
I’ve finally got back into the game. Here’s the latest entry to The Digital Photography School’s Weekly Assignment:
Actually, I was once again more than a little disappointed. As usual they had posted the subject for this week’s assignment in the last assignment (Chairs), which I did not participate in. I saw the subject and immediately thought of this picture:
Unfortunately, I took this shot on June 23rd while flying back to Chicago. The contest period is for June 24th through July 8th.
Ah well
